Frommann-holzboog Rosenkreuz als europäisches Phänomen im 17. Jahrhundert

It is common knowledge that the Rosicrucian movement was one of the most frequently discussed phenomena of the 17th century, especially following the publication of their Manifestos ‹Fama‹ und ‹Confessio Fraternitatis‹ in 1614/1615, which triggered a fierce and long-lasting debate not only in Germany but in other European countries. The most frequent questions pertaining to the Rosicrucians ("Do they exist, who are they, where do they come from and what do they want?») can be answered much more precisely today than they could even thirty years ago when Frances A. Yates wrote her famous book ‹The Rosicrucian Enlightenment‹. The fact that there are still many crucial points that have to be clarified is proven in the essays published in this volume.
