This book discusses history, evolution and present condition of Madrasa education in India.It also highlights the role of Ulema (Religious Scholars)in Indian freedom struggle. Moreover, it chronicles the modernization movements initiated in madrasa education to meet the demand and to keep pace with the changing times. Furthermore, it brings forth the fact that there is little difference in the curriculum of the madrasas belonging to different school of thought. The book also highlights the fact that more than seventy percent of the prescribed books in the curriculum consists of secular subjects which have become totally obsolete in present scenario. There is an urgent need to restructure and reorganize the whole system on modern scientific and psychological principles.
