Adsorption by Activated Carbons(ACs) is of interest in wastewater treatment because of the large surface area they present for pollutants removal. However, imported conventional ACs are expensive.Hence, the use of novel ACs produced from locally available agricultural wastes which are renewable and low cost is of benefit, particularly to developing countries.This text is based on research carried out at the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.It covers a review of relevant literature with respect to production, characterization and application of novel Acs from agricultural wastes/bye products.The optimum conditions for the production and application of activated carbon from Mango seed shell in the removal of colour and some heavy metals from wastewater are presented in chapters three through five.This monograph will therefore be a valuable reference material for students,researchers,professionals and industries with interest in production of novel ACs for water and wastewater treatment.
