Building up the local church through a need-oriented diaconal ministry that meets effectively the needs of the community and its people by providing the essential functions of the church, such as koinonia, diakonia, kerygma and leitourgia in synergy, will be helpful to congregational development as a living organism that leads church members to vitality and equips them to fulfil the variety of works available in the body of Christ. This book helps the Korean churches to recover its spiritual essence, and to have a need-oriented diaconal ministry that meets people's physical, mental and spiritual needs in the fast-changing varying society. To this end, this book presented and interpreted data from a study conducted, in order to prove the soundness and effectiveness of building up the local church through a need-oriented diaconal ministry and suggest a diagram of congregational development through a need-oriented diaconal service. When building up the local church through a need-oriented diaconal ministry is utilised fully and applied to the missionary strategy in urban areas, more people will become meaningfully involved in Christian life and membership of the churches.
