Oxford University Press Shorter Oxford English Dictionary

The fifth edition of the "Shorter Oxford Dictionary" - and a huge event in reference publishing. The title has been changed back to the original (as opposed to The "New" Shorter...) to emphasise the link with the 20-volume "OED", and the text has been extensively updated to include thousands of new words. There are over half a million definitions in all, and a new open design makes entries easier to navigate and information easy to find. A thumb-index edition is also available.
