VDM Beyene, F: NonDestructive Testing of Metallic Strucures

Many metal manufacturing industries are troubling in advancing the reliability of their products. The main reason is found to be due to unforeseen defects of their products. These companies are lacking the proper implementation of Nondestructive Testing (NDT). Consequently some of the products fail during operation.This book therefore discusses the NDT of metallic structures and explores its application in finding out of defects of an item before major harm happens to the item with out affecting its sefulness by analyzing the possible fractures that can exist based on the applied loads. In this book the most important ones-Visual, Ultrasoinc, x-ray and Penetrant Testing are discussed in detail, using experimental analysis. The experimental results are discussed and comparisons are made based on cost, accuracy, safety, time consumption, etc. The results found in this book should help any industry which is engaged in metal products, and should be especially useful for metal fabrication industries which are involved in welding and steel rolling.
