VDM Nganga, L: Multicultural Curriculum Issues in Early Childhoo

Integrating antibias multicultural curriculum in early childhood is essential. This calls for an understanding of the components of a successful multicultural curriculum. This book examined multicultural curriculum issues in Early Childhood in the Rocky Mountain Region, U.S.A. Specifically, the program goals and philosophies and the extent to which these goals and philosophies were implemented were explored. In addition, the availability of professional development opportunities, curriculum materials and the nature of parental and community involvement was also examined. Based on this work, recommendations are offered for curriculum philosophies, goals and guidelines. The importance of aligning a program's philosophy and multicultural curriculum goals with implementation of curriculum activities regardless of race, gender, ethnic heritage or cultural background is emphasized.
